Alma Alpine Cheese – a seasonal cheese specialty from Vorarlberg, produced during the alpine summer from May to September in the Vorarlberg Alps. The cheese gets its distinctive flavor from the fresh hay milk of cows that graze all summer long on pristine alpine meadows at over 1,100 meters above sea level, where up to 50 different alpine herbs grow. Following time-honored traditions, the alpine milk is handcrafted into cheese by the dairy farmers directly on the alpine pastures. The cheese then matures for several months on spruce boards to develop its unique flavor.
